History of Kennel Krølle Bølle |
| |
It
all began when Steven’s
father came home with a
dog which, of course,
was a German Shepherd.
His name was Fox and
came from Kennel
Østersøen. At first it
was my father who worked
with him but as time
passed by I took over
the training. At that
time my primary interest
was actually birds and I
had a large aviary.
However, I quickly
realised that training a
dog was far much funnier
and more challenging
than working with the
birds. So in order to
afford the purchase of
my own dog I had to sell
my birds which exactly
brought in the money I
needed to buy my first
German Shepherd.
My
parents took me to
Kennel Hakoni and the
breeder had a three
months old male, Rico
was his name. Quickly I
decided to buy him and
we brought him home and
in two hours time Fox
and Rico became best
friends.
I
started training with
Rico in the Association
of Police Dogs on the
small Danish island
Bornholm. At that time I
was only 14 years old
but nevertheless, I
became more and more
involved in the training.
I was introduced to dog
shows and found that
very exciting – actually
so exciting that I
decided to try. But I
couldn’t do it alone so
I contacted the owners
of Rico’s dad and they
were happy to help me. I
went to Copenhagen and
this is how I met Else
and Asger – the owners
of Kennel Jueel. When we
were about to enter the
exhibition ring I was so
nervous that Else showed
Rico. However, my
anxiety was unfounded as
Rico ended third.
One
of my favourite places
to walk my dogs is
Galøkken. I met other
owners of German
Shepherds there and they
introduced me to the
German Shepherd Club. I
began training Rico
there on a regular basis
and I put Rico through
all kinds of tests. One
of the referees told me
that I would be a great
trainer and he asked me
whether I would like to
try or not.
Later I felt more like
training my dogs than
attending dog shows and
I really wanted to breed
German Shepherds. In
order to do that I
needed a bitch and the
first one I could use
was Lyra von Adeloga.
She had seven puppies
but only one survived.
For the first litter I
needed a name for my
kennel so it could be
registered in the Danish
Kennel Club. I came up
with Kennel Krølle
Bølle. The name Krølle
Bølle is well-known
among all habitants on
Bornholm as it has a
local historic
significance. So for me
the choice of that name
was obvious. At that
time I was 16 years of
age.
My
interest for working
with German Shepherds
grew bigger and bigger.
Consequently I became
trainer for puppy teams
and eventually trainer
for BHP teams. I also
was the guy who the dogs
attack during training.
In addition, I was
elected chairman of the
breeding committee in my
local area. I was
chairman for one year
which, of course,
contributed to the
evolving of me as a
breeder.
Until
the age of 23 I breeded
several litters on
Bornholm but as most
young people on Bornholm
do I decided to move to
Copenhagen in 1991. As a
natural consequence I
took a temporary break
from breeding German
Shepherds.
I
was given the chance to
take up breeding again
in 1998, where I got my
first litter with Effi.
She gave birth to four
poppies in our allotment
garden, which was
situated in Gladsaxe. I
resumed dog training in
Schæferhundeklubben,
district 62 but have
later on moved my
training to district 43,
which is in Hvidovre and
therefore closer to my
home.
Jan and I now have
Siberian Husky and we
are very pleased with
our results. We train
3-4 times a week during
the winter season and
the dogs love it. We go
to races in Denmark as
well as abroad, we use
wagon and sledge. It is
a great experience going
sledging I Sweden. It
has to be experienced –
it cannot be described.
We take the dogs out
near Hundebjerget in
Glostrup. Here they are
able to run freely and
play with other dogs.
The German Sheepherd,
Olly, is being trained
together with the other
dogs during the summer
season and she too loves
to go out and draw the
wagon. We do not go
quite as fast when Olly
is with us, because she
is a heavier dog.
The German Sheepherd and
Siberian Husky are two
fantastic breeds and all
our dogs are able to go
together without
problems. |
